1 Corinthians 10 : 13 … “ There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able: but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
Let me say this emphatically, there is no temptation or sin you might have fallen into that someone somewhere hasn’t gone through under the sun. Some people came out of their messes, and some others remained. The same adversity that got some folks to break down got some other folks to break through.
Jesus has done everything he is going to do about the devil. Jesus has done everything he is going to do about sin. The job was done on the Cross. I would to God to open your eyes to see what Jesus did for you. The Cross is everything. He has done it, He won’t do anything more. All you need is take full advantage of it.
The fact that you committed that sin hasn’t disqualified you. Sin no longer separates us from God. The issue of sin has been dealt with. What separates us from God is when we underestimate the mercy of God and overestimate the power of sin, and we begin to live in deception. Romans 6: 14 … “For sin shall not have dominion over you…”
Let me say this to you whether you’ll accept this truth or not, whether you will love or hate me for it: “Every sin you have ever committed, the ones you are committing right now and the sins you will ever commit has been nailed to the cross and has been forgiven.” All you need to do is to take advantage of God’s mercy and take it for granted.
Whenever a believer commits sin or misses the mark, something dies, something is reduced, and something has been broken. He needs to immediately acknowledge his mistake and “confess”. If you read 1 John 2: 1-2 very well, the Holy Ghost will show you that, God does not want his children to commit sin at all, and it is quite possible to be without sin. But He later brings up ‘a conditional situation’ if perhaps something came up, and He tells us we have an advocate with the father.
Many believers do not have a problem with this Scripture, but they have problems in forgiving themselves. When you confess your fault in the name of Jesus, God forgives, in His book it did not happen, it has been erased, but many keep struggling with guilt and trying to be sure whether God has fixed the past or not. God has forgiven many believers, but they refuse to forgive themselves and let go of the past.
Being righteous is not an act, of what you did, what you did not or what you are trying to do. Righteousness is a gift and that is who you are. This gift of righteousness produces and teaches you how to live right.
This righteousness will not only teach you how to confess your sins always, but will teach you how to forsake them. It is the rightness of God in your Spirit; whereby you do the right thing the first time and also every time. Glory to God!!!
Ok Brother Ransome, if I finally fall into sexual sins, should I also confess to my partner/spouse? Proverbs 28: 13 “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaken them shall have mercy.”
Especially in marital infidelity, the sin is not only committed against God, but it is committed against your partner. God will forgive you whenever you ask for forgiveness, but you also should be humbled enough to open up and confess to your spouse.
Likewise, it is not compulsory because this sometimes only burdens your partner with your own guilt. It will not neutralize your future temptations, nor necessarily break your attachment to being tempted some other times. But do not forget that God cannot continue to bless you and give you more grace if you attempt deception.
It is important for you to go to the right source for additional help. I strongly suggest that you ask for God’s direction in finding a respected and trusted Pastor or counselor who can direct you in to the Lord’s Recovery.
