22/01/2015 | BECOMING A BLESSSING TO YOUR FAMILY – Brother Ransome | #ROR Daily Devotional … We Bless The Day!

I love my work so much, I love the ministry and several people in my life, but my family is an integral and vital part of my existence. The church is important in a believer’s life, but God created the family first before the church. Psalms 68: 6 … “God sets the solitary into families

Fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, uncles and aunts always feel compelled to check on the wellbeing of relatives wherever they are and also to reaffirm their love. Even if families fail us in some ways, they are still the greatest influence on our lives. Reaching out is vital, but so is looking within.

It is your duty to pray for your family, nuclear or extended. It is your responsibility that every member of your family gets saved. Visit your parents or call them frequently, connect with members of the family who are nonchalant about family union and togetherness.

Here are few ways to reconnect and transform the relationship between the members of your family:

Change the Interaction: You can neutralize a problem simply by changing your response. Rather than becoming annoyed at an over bearing sister, for example, thank her for the advice but state firmly that you are in control of what needs to be done. You can firmly say NO without offensive gestures. Before a family gathering, visualize the new interaction. Practice letting annoyance float away.

Walk in other person’s shoes: It helps to see the situation as complex and not only aimed at you. Generally, troublesome family members don’t feel too good about themselves. If you think about the factors contributing to their behavior, you may be able to develop a sense of empathy. Empathy not only lowers your blood pressures, it also drains away anger.

Value the payoffs: Siblings grow closer through the years, no matter what their early relationship.

Forgive, forgive, and forgive: Nothing brings families together than forgiveness. When you forgive you gain strength and come out a winner. You break free of control by the other person’s actions. You also free your body of the great stress that anger inflicts.

***QUOTES OF THE DAY –

[On Love] – Walk away from anything or anyone who takes away from your joy. Life is too short to put up with fools.

[On Life] – Go where you are celebrated – not tolerated. If they can’t see the real value of you, it’s time for a new start.

[On Success/Business] – Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit.
