It is common to hear people say, “God first, family second, work third, others follow. It is so easy to speak these affirming words with our lips but we tend to slide when some prevailing situations come striking in. We know that there has been just few moments when we have completely place God over everything. The heart loves God deeply, the mouth confirms it as well, but our actions contradict.
The Spirit is willing, but the flesh doesn’t want to conform to the Spirit. For willing is present within us, but to execute the will is absent. It takes more than determination to place God above everything in today’s competitive world. We must be brought to the arena where our sense and consciousness for what we need does not exist again, a place where our greatest need and desire is God Himself.
The time, resources, energy, gifts, and knowledge of God that we’ve been given should be used not to gain influence, make money, or fuel pride, but instead to multiply glory for the Kingdom (Matthew 25:14–30) and to save the souls of the lost (2 Corinthians 5:20) as we trust in God to protect us and provide for us. Loving God with all our heart, all our soul, and all our strength is an easy path and the sweetest thing, for nothing is better that serving and love Him and His son.
The life of a Christian should be characterized by moment-by-moment selfless service to God that flows from love for Him and His people. That is what it means to put God first. Any wealth that comes our way should be used to generously give and bless others with it, any success or influence or talents that we have should be used to multiply Christ’s influence, and any strength or health we enjoy should be spent in His service. GRACE TO YOUR HEART!
