1 Corinthians 6: 11 (KJV) … but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord.
It is important that we understand what each underlined word means, and also not to be unmindful that each of them are in past tense form.
- Washed – The original meaning here is “to wash fully, to wash off, or wash away. This does not connote a partial cleaning or erasing. There is a total separation, removal or departure from the washed object and the removed stains.
This is the real picture of the believer at salvation. Everything in the old man is completely gone. There is a separation between the new and the old man. The departure is real; and never would the old have anything to do with the new anymore. God now lives in the new man; he has no business searching to find if there is any sin. The new man is sinless now! Sin has no place to find expression!
Psalm 103: 12 (KJV) … As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Your heart and body is a clean place for God to live in now. You’re not someone trying to have a clean heart or holy hands before you approach and ascend his sacred place. As a matter of reality, you are now His temple. The holy place people are trying to get into is now resident in you. Don’t always forget … “You have been washed” This is an act of God, not yours! Don’t try to wash yourself anymore. You have been washed! It is a once and for all act of God. Glory to God!!!!
