THE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (1) | #BrotherRansome #iBlessTheDay

 (An Introduction)

The major challenge with many a believer is not sin itself, but sin consciousness. They are conscious of the sins they haven’t yet committed; they even ask God to forgive them in advance. They pray like this “O God search my heart: if there be any sin, father forgive me”.

What a wrong mindset!

1Corinthians 6: 11 (KJV) … but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord.

It is important that we understand what each underlined word means, and also not to be unmindful that each of them are in past tense form.

  1. Washed – The original meaning here is “to wash fully, to wash off, or wash away. This does not connote a partial cleaning or erasing. There is a total separation, removal or departure from the washed object and the removed stains.

This is the real picture of the believer at salvation. Everything in the old man is completely gone. There is a separation between the new and the old man. The departure is real; and never would the old have anything to do with the new anymore. God now lives in the new man; he has no business searching to find if there is any sin. The new man is sinless now! Sin has no place to find expression!

Psalm 103: 12 (KJV) … As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Your heart and body is a clean place for God to live in now. You’re not someone trying to have a clean heart or holy hands before you approach and ascend his sacred place. As a matter of reality, you are now His temple. The holy place people are trying to get into is now resident in you. Don’t always forget … “You have been washed” This is an act of God, not yours! Don’t try to wash yourself anymore. You have been washed! It is a once and for all act of God.

  1. Sanctified – The greek word used here is “Hagiazo” which means to make holy or to set apart for God. This is not what God is trying to do, He’s already done it. The believer has been made holy and he is a set apart vessel unto God.

Sainthood is not attained in heaven, consecration is not reached by a right living; they are obtained in Christ!

Sanctification is not what we are trying to get or be. It is a reality now for the believer. The opposite of “Hagiazo” is “Koinos” which simply means “to be unclean or to be defiled”. This was our former state; but now we have been sanctified. Glory!

1 Corinthians 1: 30 (KJV) … But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is MADE UNTO US wisdom, and righteousness, and SANCTIFICATION, and redemption. This is mind blowing. God is will not one day sanctify us. He already has! This is a present hour reality.

Are you still there praying to God to get you sanctified, O! Brother Nay! It is not what you have to try to attain, it is already obtained in Christ. At salvation, you have received the Zoë life of God and that’s all that matters. All things proceed from it. Christ lives in you now, the sanctifier lives in you now, you are the sanctified.

Sanctification is not a process, it is now a reality; and Christ in you is that reality.

Hebrews 2: 11 (KJV) … For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren.

  1. Justified – It simply means to be declared “not guilty”. As far as God is concerned, I am not guilty of any offence. It is a sovereign declaration of the almighty God! God declares it; I accept it and I walk in the light of it. This is all that matters to me.

God is not going to punish me for any sin (past, present and future); all sins (past, present and future) have been punished in the body of Jesus. He was declared guilty for me to be declared “not guilty”. This is bigger than a testimony of a changed life; this is rather an ultimate exchange. His life is exchanged for mine and his beauty for my ashes.

God will no longer impute or take record of sin on the believer anymore; all sins have been punished in the body of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5: 19 (KJV) … To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

We have no business in condemning anyone, our message and responsibility is to reconcile all men to God by showing them what has been done on their behalf and what has been readily made available.

Our focus should no longer be “What can be done” but rather “What has been done”.

Romans 8: 1 (KJV) … There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Hebrews 8: 12 (ESV) … For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.

Romans 5: 1 (KJV) … Therefore being JUSTIFIED by faith, we have PEACE with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The word “Peace” here is from the greek word “Eirene” which means harmonious relationship between two former warring parties”. The war is over. We have entered into His rest. The justification we have in Christ has brought us peace, tranquility and harmony. There is rest and quietness now on both sides with perfect rapport.

Two of us (The Father and the believer) can now prosper in relationship and fellowship because of Christ Jesus (the initiator of the peace move).

We have been WASHED, SANCTIFIED AND JUSTIFIED!!!

Profess who you are and thank God for whom he has made you in Christ.

Glory to His name, even us!

*** CONFESSION – I have been washed from all sins (past, present and future), I have been sanctified and declared not guilty of any offence, I am at peace with God now and always!
