2 Timothy 3: 16 – 17 [KJV] – All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
The call of God over your life will not suddenly launch you into spiritual maturity. It is wiser and safer when you patiently pass through the required process and training than to hurriedly commence what you don’t have enough energy to sustain.
Ministry is not done by the word of faith alone, but also by the word of his patience; of which many are eager to live in the first realm. Paul instructs Timothy to first “prove” anyone who would love to do the work of the ministry, and should serve afterwards, then they can use the office of a Bishop (an overseer).
A minister is first called to be a waiter, then a messenger. Many are busy running errands for God without waiting on Him. In waiting, we become spiritually matured; in waiting also, we make the calling sure.
Passion is not enough, zeal alone cannot get the job done. God’s men are made in God’s chamber – in much waiting, praying, studying and serving. We are in partnership with the Holy Ghost, called to do what He requires of us, not what we feel like doing. This is living in eternity under the eyes of God!
We have a duty to submit to the Lordship of the word every now and then. We have a commitment to hearing, studying, and practicing the word. The Word of God trains, equips, teaches, corrects and furnishes unto all good works.
I am furnished by the word unto all good works; I am trained and equipped by the word. I am nourished and fortified. I am patient with the Word, I yield myself always to the word and I follow His plans and purposes for my life daily.
